The journey of billion-year-old diamonds, from mines to you

Most of us are familiar with the phrase, "shine like a diamond." But few know about the technicality that lies behind the brilliant shine of a diamond. Besides refraction, it is the phenomenon of internal reflection that contributes to the brilliance of a diamond. And more the cuts, more is the internal reflection adding to the shine of diamonds. In the same way, we believe, that when shine from within, we shine our best. With this idea at its heart, Chirag Jewellers was founded in 1972 by late Rameshchandra Shah in Kolkata. That’s why, every Chirag diamond is meticulously carved and cut with precision, adding brilliance not only to the diamond but also to the person flaunting them. Our master craftsmen flawlessly carve each piece of diamond with precision matching the standards of GIA and IGI in terms of Cut, Clarity and Colour.

Mining

Priceless treasures of nature - diamonds are formed under volcanic mountains, found on the river bed and at times unearthed from the seashore. But not all match your unparalleled brilliance. We scavenge the best mines of Ghana, Kimberley and Dominoes to choose the stones that reflect your inner glow, to the maximum.

Sorting
Rough
Diamonds

Before a raw diamond is processed, it resembles dull pieces of glass. These raw diamonds are taken to processing plants and are sorted into categories according to weight, colour and clarity.

Cleaving & polishing of rough diamonds

After separating rough diamonds to be finished separately, the crucial step of polishing is efficiently executed in our polishing factory in Gujarat.

Inspection
of Polished
diamonds

After the final facets are polished onto the diamond by a brillianteer, the diamonds undergo a meticulous inspection using a 10x loop that qualifies the measure of matching the 4Cs (Colour, Carat, Cut and Clarity.) and thereafter receives its official lab certifications.
